Choosing the right protein powder supplements might be some what difficult at first, because there are so many brand, flavors and ingredients. Depending on the ingredients,

Some brands taste pretty accurate and close to what they claim on the label and other do not taste as good or as accurate to what they describe on their label.

Here are my guidance how I pick tasty, healthy protein powder for myself.
First of course are ingredients: I try to use protein powder that has the least ingredients possible. I would rather buy plain protein and add that ever flavor I desire that day. I can add banana, or Oreo cookie, or coco with peanut butter.

Animal based protein is much better than plant based protein as it is more complete and contains adequate amounts of all the 8 essential amino acids.
Plant based protein is usually low in one of the essential amino acids such as lysine or methionine so it contains less complete protein than animal based protein.

Calorie count is very important. When you are taking protein supplement obviously it is because you want to ad protein to your diet and not more calories and sugar.

NOTE Look at the calorie count per serving, but also pay attention and compare serving size. For example BRAND1: a 24 grams scoop will have 87 calories and 18g of protein, and BRAND2 have their serving size at two scoops (48grams) and a serving has 120 calories and 35g of protein. If You would look at the calories only, brand2 will look like it has more calories, but after paying more attention BRAND2 offers same amount of protein, or less calories.

To keep protein supplements tasting good and sweet, but keeping calorie count low, many brands add sugar substitutes to the mix. Sugar substitutes like aspartame, sucralose and saccharin or splenda usually does not add any calories to the product, but makes it sweeter.
I personally avoid these chemical artificial sweeteners. I usually look for products that use cane sugar, stevia or no sweeteners at all. Protein supplements that are sweetened with natural sweeteners like sugar, cane sugar, real fructose or stevia, do not have bitter after taste. Most of the artificially sweetened protein powders do.

Flavor is more a personal choice. Sometimes I buy plain protein and add that ever flavor I desire that day. I can add banana, or oreo cookie, or coco with peanut butter. When you add flavor yourself you make it most natural possible. Unflavored protein and vanilla protein powder are very versatile, you can add to your other foods like add a scoop to a pancake mix, or when baking a pie.

Since there are so many brands and flavors to choose, it usually takes trial and error to find the one you really like. As I mentioned I like to keep in stock vanilla and unflavored protein powder, because they are versatile flavors and mixes well with fruit and becomes different flavor. Also I like to have chocolate protein to satisfy my chocolate cravings.
