Bodybuilding requires much more precise meal and exercise schedule, than regular daily exercises or aerobic exercises. When serious body builders are at the stage, where they want to build muscle mass, they go on a strict diet, strict meal schedule (meals every 3 hours) and also strict and intense exercise schedule. It is obvious that professional bodybuilders want to build muscle mass at the maximum pace that is healthy and possible.
When building or growing muscle mass they do not want to decrease their progress with muscle atrophy or extra layer of fat, that’s why it is very important for them to stick to the schedule and eat only foods that support healthy muscle building with high protein intake and avoid foods that will reduce muscle definition and result thicker layer of fat over the hard earn muscle.
The way the meal scheduling works basically they really calculate how long does it takes to digest certain foods, and the size of the meal and how soon it will digested and absorbed. The main point of meal scheduling is not let starvation to occur, but not to over eat as well. Keep constant supply of protein for muscle growth and just the right amount of energy or carbs to last between the meals. Without meal scheduling and strict following muscle building results would go back and forward. One day you would gain muscle mass, the other you would loose it because you had busy day and skipped a meal or just hat a snack.
To burn extra carbs and extra energy and make sure that there is no extra carbohydrates left to be stored as fat, professional bodybuilders workout every day, even multiple times a day.
The menu of the bodybuilders meal plan depends on the stage the sportsman is. He could be in a stage there is plenty of time left until the next competition and they are just increasing and building muscle mass. Or there is less time left before next competition and they are working out to reduce fat and water to the minimum and gain more definition to show of hard earned muscle “guns”. If you look at the professional bodybuilder between competitions, or couple moths after the competition, he will not look as defined as they did on competition day.
On bodybuilding competition day when you look at all these masculine men and women on the stage, to you look very strong posing, but the truth is they are actually at their weakest point. They cut carbohydrates out of their diet for the last couple of weeks before competition and they have been working out and eliminating water out of their body to display their physique to the judges.
