In Search Of Perfect Hummus. A Healthy Dip Without Guilt.
A snack is not complete without a dip. From baby carrots to processed potato chips if you dip it in to a sauce it gets almost two times better. Most of the dipping sauces you will find are made of oil, mayonnaise, butter, ranch, nacho cheese. It seams like even if you eat carrots and celery sticks with a dip you will gain weight just from dipping them in to a pot of lard. There is a good alternative – Hummus. Even I you tried it and did not like it, please keep reading, you might learn that there are more hummus flavors than “Roasted Pepper” and “Garlic”.

Hummus is a Levantine Arab food dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. It is popular throughout the Middle East and in Middle Eastern cuisine around the globe. From Wikipedia.org
During all past week my wife was craving for a hummus. We already tried hummus dips from grocery stores and they were OK for a while, but they kinda taste the same. So this Sunday we decided to explore the variety that the local farmers market has to offer.
I was surprised how many different flavors there are and that most of them taste so different from the flavors you get at supermarket. We tried so many: dill, beet, spinach, basil, horseradish, mint, pesto, sun dried tomato. Some of them were really good and other flavors were not for my taste buds. After all tasting we picked some fresh pita bread and “Sun-dried-tomato” , “Horseradish” and “Spinach and artichoke” flavors.
