How To Break Bad Habits And Learn New Good Habits
Who are you? Are you the person you imagine you are? Do you act like you imagine yourself? Most of us have better opinion and better self image about ourselves than surrounding people think about us.
A lot of times the image of myself in my mind looks so flawless, without bad habits, laziness, procrastination in short – just like movie star. But in reality it appears way different. And when I realize it that I am not what I imagine to be, all these excuses start to appear that I will get there but now is not a good time, I got a lot on my plate, maybe next moth I will start working towards that movie star image, but this month is just too busy.
One of my friends, John, told me once, “How you gonna have time, if you don’t make time?” That is very true. Sometimes you just have to push harder and squeeze that workout in to your busy day, even if only 15 min of running up and down the block in the evening. If not now then when, why not now? You know very well, that tomorrow will be the same busy day and there are plenty things to do and you will be same tired as you are now.
If you have some unhealthy habits, that are in the way of becoming better you, don’t think you have to stick with them the rest of the life. According to research, you can drop your old harmful habits and develop some new healthy habits just by changing your attitude. It has been proven that attitude has huge role in guiding our behavior in the ways that beneficial to us. How behavior modeling can actually change your habits for good.
The power is in the brain. When you do something often, your brain learns it well and after a while you don’t need to think about it, it becomes a habit. Same way you can turn some of the desired behaviors in to desired habits.
Lets take an example of drinking a full glass of water in the morning, first thing after you get up. First few days you might even have to make a note for yourself to remind you. After a month of same repeated behavior it will turn in to a habit. And viola, you have a new healthy habit.
